Monica is a Colombian/American Environmental engineer, Agrónoma and teacher and Luna is a native dog.

Monica and Jupi (r.i.p) discovered this incredible paradise called El valle, Bahía Solano, Chocó. More than 10 years ago and fell in love at first sight with the people their culture and their kindness, of course, to say the least Almejal beach with dark sand and the jungle in the background… just as if the ocean kissing the jungle.

We…Monica & Jupi designed The Hill BnB and built with local help a home away from home. For National and International tourists from around the globe to experience the down to earth way of life and nature at its best.

Unique ecolodge surrounded by tropical rainforest and pristine beach.

We are a small (full capacity: 12 people), family eco-oriented Bed and Breakfast, right at the beginning of Almejal beach.

At our bed and breakfast, We offer a variety of amenities to make your stay with us as comfortable as possible. Private Outdoor areas throughout the property grounds; Sun deck, Terrace, Day-bed, Top of the hill art garden,, Outdoor shower (fist floor within the garden).

Second floor: We have three private rooms, West room (for 1 or 2 people), East room (for 1,2,or 3 people) and the Master suite (for 2 or up to 4 people, with a private balcony with hammocks). All rooms have full private bathrooms and spectacular views.

Third floor : Breakfast lounge /shared Kitchen, with 360 degrees of Amazing views.

The access to the beach is just a step away.

A perfect place for nature travelers, couples and families to enjoy a display of nature at its rawest!

We provide complimentary high-speed internet access.

We live on the premises on completely independent quarters , which allows us, to be there if you need Us, or to let you enjoy your privacy.

How to get to Us at the beginning of Almejal beach

There are no roads coming from the interior of Colombia to the entire coast of Choco, as a result you must fly in from Medellin or from Quibdo or boat up from Buenaventura or Nuqui.

There are daily flights from Medellin’s Olaya Herrera Airport in El Poblado to Bahia Solano’s Airport Jose Celestino Mutis.

New airline connection with Clic Airlines now to Bahia Solano.

The flight takes about 45 minutes.

To the Hill (El Morro) from Bahia Solano’s Airport

Take a taxi or a Tuck Tuck to El Valle, just tell them that you are going to El Morro en la playa El Almejal or let us know and We can arrange for a transporter to pick you Up. They normally charge $20000 cop/person and the ride takes about 28 minutes.

We recommend flying but alternatively you can take the cargo boat from Buenaventura to Bahia Solano, which leaves every Tuesday from Buenaventura and every Saturday back from Bahia Solano to Buenaventura.

To and from Nuqui

Public Boats leave only Mondays and Fridays from Nuqui to el Valle, the small town where we are located in. Boats leave Nuqui around 6:00 am returning back from El Valle the same day around 11:00.

The owners of El Morro – The Hill B&B are committed to developing our Home / Bed and Breakfast within a sustainable frame, seeking to improve economic and social conditions for ourselves and our surrounding community, focusing on conservation, protection of the environment and our region’s cultural wealth.

We are focusing on working with the communities in educational and artistic projects to improve our and their quality of life, leading by example while loving and taking care of nature our main provider.

Here are some of our ongoing and planned community projects for you to know what we do in this beautiful region.

Keeping our home clean: We believe in leading by example, that is why we clean our beach constantly and Reduce, Reuse and Recycle our waste on a daily basis.

Trash to green art: Recycling creative ideas, collecting “trash” from the beach and converting them into beautiful pieces of art.

Pipas (coconut water) in exchange for collecting the garbage at the beach.

Eliminating the business gap: We collaborate with our local guides and tour operators helping them to establish a presence online, opening a world of opportunities for them and the community in general.

Eliminating communication barrier: English classes, are given to the locals to collaborate reducing the language barrier.

Special programs: During Christmas, we throw a gift party, nothing expensive, just a present and a smile for a child. “My father’s dream”

Beachfront, surrounded by primary forest, We offer outstanding opportunities to observe and immerse in Colombia’s tropical rain forest.

We have excellent contacts with local restaurants, tour operators, boat Capitans that We know and trust; with them you can go to

* see whales (July, August, September)

* release baby sea turtles (September to February),

All year around you can….*do bird watching,

*take a boat tour to Utria National Park (where you can see mangroves and do snorkeling).

*visit El tigre, one of our many beautiful beaches with waterfalls nearby or * swim and surf at Almejal beach, just at your foot steps…

At the hill, We comply with biosafety protocols for you to stay safe with Us. You can relax in the ample terraces and decks around the property, where is posible to practice social distance if desire or take a walk to the town (15 minutes. where you can find a hand full of restaurants and buy essentials) or walk to the end of the beach (you can find three restaurants) to immerse yourself in nature.
